 Kuga PHEV recall - Bobby
I’m a member of Kuga FB groups as considering it, especially the PHEV model, as potential next car.
Ford have contacted owners of PHEVs saying there is a safety issue and with immediate effect they should not attempt to charge the battery. There will be a further update as and when Ford have a solution to the problem.
Lots of absolutely cheesed off owners. Imagine buying a PHEV for the cost benefits of electric driving and then being told not to use it!

Porch too apparently.

Apparently Taycan owners have been told not to charge at home.

That’ll teach em.
Should have stuck with the flat 6 or V6 , although the 4 cyl in the Boxster/ Cayman is plenty good enough for me.
Or would be if I owned one :-)

2020 a son bought a Taycan and loved it - too many issues however.
He had it some 18 months and traded it back in.

The car but it was off the road for some 3 or 4 months in that time. Range issues - <200 miles rather than the 280 in the brochure - "software updates" to the battery & 2 replacements never fixed the battery issue. It was uplifted from the roadside in 3/4 times in the final months of his ownership.
Replaced with Cayenne - 2+ years on - no issues other than a small oil leak and the fact it the car has a "heavy drinker" - 18 ish mpg

I had one as a company car. Went back in November last year. The day is was supposed to be delivered, back in autumn 2020, the supplying dealer called to say that they couldn’t deliver it, due to a recall. Had to wait a full six months for Ford to replace the main traction battery before I could take delivery, so Ford have been there before with battery issues. Did get a £500 fuel card as recompense.

Talk this time is that they can resolve the issue with a software fix…
