Q7's are renowned for extremely short tyre life - all that metal being thrown around by such power - and it's hard to imagine that the performance version, on what look like super skinny tyres, being driven "enthusiastically" by Police Officers, with excel in that department!

Wonder who'll be picking up the bills? Let me guess.

From the tone of the story I would suggest that the Audi won't see active pursuit / response duty:

"The 4x4 car has now been emblazoned with the force's livery and will be used by the Gangs Task Force"

It's more likely to be used as a publicity display at shows, major public events and so on, to increase awareness of their powers to confiscate vehicles, rather like the cars that get publicised before going to the crusher.

The Q7 could be used to replace the Strathclyde Police car that ended in the Forth & Clyde Canal yesterday when the driver lost control.

Apologies for the source of this but it now looks like the police may well be a sitting target when driving this Q7!

OK, up here in Glasgow there has recently been a lot of coverage of 2 or 3 crime families that are ruling the roost so to speak and the tabloids are turning them almost into celebrities.

But for Strathclyde Police to use a vehicle seized from one of them to escort another to court in it, is a huge huge step to go down ! Some will say its fantastic PR, others may wonder what this will lead to!
