My mate is looking to trade his Mazda CX3 and has seen a BMW 2 series active tourer and a Merc B Class advertised at the local Motorpoint.
It’s years since I have had any dealings with them, since the days they imported different spec Skodas etc.

Anyone know what their business model is now, is it ex hire cars / fleet cars or what?

Ex-fleet, ex-Motability, auction cars.

I bought my 2023 Honda C-rv from Motorpoint 15 months ago - 5 months old, 1882 miles on the clock. MP trade-in was better than WBAC/Motorway & AC. It has been 100% since - no complaints here.

MP used to sell cars under 3 years old and under 30K.
Today cars can have higher mileages and be 4 years old.

Any idea what the history of yours was?
Who had it for the 5 months?

I would be initially be worried re a very young / low mileage car being returned, though I guess there could be a number of reasons e.g. company car where the employee left, company car where the company failed, personal lease where the lessor can't afford the repayments, etc.

With an ex-mobility, perhaps the user couldn't get on with it, or passed away or their criteria changed and the car was revoked.

I'm guessing it wasn't a returned lemon because FB seems happy with it.

Brother has bought 4 BMWs from Motorpoint (2 for him and 2 for his Mrs). Some of them have had lease company details on the service books so I guess some are ex-company cars etc.

I bought a Toyota from them. Turned out to be an ex-hire, 8k miles and eight months old. A pre facelift model. Meant I could get the first service at a main dealer. No problems (so far).
The price was several £k less than what main dealers had sinilar cars for and was far better prepared.
Very easy dealing with them and no pressure to purchase extras.

More than likely on the V5C (log book) too. One of my previous 2nd hand cars bought from a garage showed the previous owner being Enterprise Rental. I was a bit peeved at the time as I wasn't made aware by the garage that the car was an ex rental.

I bought a Hertz Rental car for my 2 boys that were at the same university in 1996.

Vx Astra £8,000, 7,000 miles / 6 months old and only minor repairs in our ownership when sold with around 90K in 2001

dunno why you were peeved, they dont have to tell you, it makes little difference to the value if you sell it on. The Clio I bought Mrs Z was an ex rental, and it turned out to be a paragon of reliability.
