 Printer problem - legacylad
Canon Pixma TS5150.
Out of warranty, light use only, showing Support Code 6900. Unable to get into the printer settings, tried a ‘hard reset’ to no avail.
From what I can gather online, Code 6900 is a “ problem with the wireless network adaptor in the printer and that service may be required “.

My home router is working fine, and as it didn’t cost much ( from memory) I won’t be taking it to a repairer...if I could find one.

Take it to the tip, or give it away, before I buy another cheap replacement ?
What would you do ?

Can you try it somewhere else to see if it works with another router?

Otherwise I'd dump for another. They're cheap as chips these days.

Reminds me, we dumped a similarly useless Brother Laser printer that was in Mrs B's study. Bought when she was doing a PhD and printing in bulk. Trying to decide whether to (a) replace it or (b) buy something that will replace both it and my old Canon MX535 which is increasingly prone to spurious paper jam messages.

Replace it with a non Wi-Fi one.

Good shout. Current one is wi fi but previous connected to the router.

Ned Lud here.....my old laptop stopped working many years ago, and my desktop even longer ago.
I’ve managed with an old Ipad and iphone these past several years and to the best of my knowledge they cannot be hard wired to a printer.
Happy to be corrected...

We've had a couple that connect to the router and work as network printers.

Configured mine last week for my new work laptop. PITA because everything, even updating benefit checking tools, needs a remote techy on the machine.

When you've worked in support for a while you understand why users are not given access to tweak their machines...

Bad call, A WiFi enabled printer is a boon.

The printer will have a USB port, plug it into your pc/laptop and set it up as if from new again

Might be worth a try

Try plugging it into the computer directly then see if there is a diagnostics/software update to solve the problem.

Reading through the posts, the OP hasn't had a laptop or desktop PC in a long time.

He prints via Wi-Fi from his iPad and iPhone. Or at least he did, but now asking for help as no longer able to.

Lots of stuff about factory settings etc etc

Like many computer issues re setting everything back to factory might be a way to go forward.

Car Issue solved with re-boot

Son had an issue with his car, odd lights coming up after lying unused for a 4/5 days over Xmas /New Year. Car started OK just the dash lights.

Main dealer wanted diagnostic check at some £100 and then unstated time thereafter to fix the issue

Battery had plenty charge just lights on dashboard.
Removing Fuse 17 was tipped to sort matters.
Disconnecting battery for 10 minutes was another suggestion.

He then remove fuse 17, disconnected the battery for 10 minutes. Re-connected battery and then put fuse 17 back - Job Done.

Do old iPhones have an NFC capability? The printer seems to so if the phone does too, a direct radio connection may be possible for printing.
