Excellent news. Saab have said new models would be built with off the shelf components and sub systems, so it makes sense to pick the best available in each category.

Agreed. It will be even better for Saab if they can ultimately persuade BMW to supply them with diesels as well.

The last bit of that link text provides an amusing prospect: the bulb powered vehicle!

"In separate news, Peugeot-Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors have announced a new partnership to develop electric light vehicles from 2012"

Maybe there should have been a comma after "electric" or a dash between "electric" and "light".

These engines are a joint design with PSA but the press release only mentions BMW to maintain prestige.

Back before Ford bought Volvo I remember they used to advertise the large proportion of UK made components in their cars - hopefuly SAAB will now come to Uk manufacturers for more components.
