 Skoda - Roof bars for my Skoda Superb estate 2016-on - Mapmaker
Haven't had cause to own a roof rack for some years... but I want to order some bars that will fit my car. But what spec do I need? I can go to a specialist site selling them that will charge me £150; or ebay 'universal' bars (fits 'most' cars - so not that universal) for about £50. But will they fit, and how do I find out?

The temptation is to use two planks of wood with holes drilled in and cable ties...

Does the superb estate have roof rails to start with? If so then I’d imagine a set of universal ‘feet’ and crossbars would fit just fine. But if you need the type that clamp to the roof of the car I, like you, would be wary that they wouldn’t fit. Maybe somewhere like Halfords would have some, and you could try before you buy sort of thing?

Or ebay might have an ex superb owner selling some?

As an aside, for some reason spellcheck corrected Superb to subzero when I made a mistake typing it :)

A quick look at vehicles for sale suggests longitudinal rails are universal on the estate.

Halfords have a good selection of bars both own brand and Thule.

We had them successively for the BX and Xantia estates and our original 2005 Berlingo. Would have them for current Berlingo too if family camping holidays needing a roof box were still a thing.

The bars are fairly universal. The feet however can be more vehicle/model specific.

I have got the exact bars for my last 3 cars from EBay/ Gumtree and Facebook selling pages.
Find out the exact models, serial numbers and then search. Someone, somewhere will be selling them

SIL bought some generic roof bars from Halfords, they have a line along their length. Whistle like good-uns.
