If you don't already have it on your reading device, grab the app RBDigital and you'll probably find your local library is supported. Assuming you're a member, great way of reading books for free at the moment, as you can't visit/borrow.

Just chuntered through a couple of Raymond Chandlers from mine. What a stylish writer.

Our libraries are open. No browsing, just collect reserved (I nearly put pre-reserved!) books and return stuff.

Ours are the same. Great if you know exactly which book you want of course. The app gives you a synopsis and so on, so it's akin to browsing. Something like 7500 to choose from in our library.

I’m now a big fan of audio books and subscribe to Audible. Only a modest £7.99 a month and its real luxury having a book read to you. The range available is impressive. You get your first book free. I chose the complete Sherlock Holmes read by Stephen Fry which kept me entertained for a few weeks!

I read Homage to Catalonia recently - the copyright on his books presumably expired in January, 70 years after the author's death.

If it was taught in schools it might put a few people off going to fight foreign wars.
