No sign of Diane, maybe she could not find a pair of shoes.

What a dick. There goes a good career
|
"What a dick."
Is this the chap who received the private eduction for which poor Diane was much mocked?
|
James Abbott-Thompson, 28, was working as a diplomat...
Wow.
Is there more to this? Sometimes things just don't add up, especially with these bare reports of court proceedings.
|
Sounds like he completely lost the plot, I wonder what triggered his reaction?
|
Telegraph item back in January says he'd left the Foreign Office at the time the incidents took place. ISTR reports suggested he'd been under scrutiny over his performance but I cannot find any confirmation of that right now.
The Telegraph report and others refer to mental health issues.

You'd have to think that he had/has mental or emotional problems of some sort, it's a lot more than one incident.

One of the DT articles says "The court was told that most of the incidents relate to a time when Mr Abbott-Thompson was being treated for mental health issues."
|
>>The court was told that most of the incidents relate.....
"Most" doesn't add a bunch of credibility to the mitigation. What about the rest?

Suffering from the problem but not being treated as no diagnosis and/or lack of insight into his condition?

Ms Abbott is a classic case of "do what I say, not as I do" .
Socialist in name and ideology, but right wing in her personal behaviour.
I won't shed any tears if this is the end of her political career - intellectually lightweight, specialist subject was conning her electorate, obviously lacking integrity.

Why should it end her political career?
I think she must be ill TBH. She was shadow minister for public health for 3 years so she must have had a clue at some point but she was embarrassingly bad on QT or Any Questions a few weeks ago - really naive and cliched comments. I'll be disappointed if she makes the shadow cabinet when Starmer takes over the leadership.
|
Diane Abbot always gives the impression she is isolating from her brain.

I think so, she usually comes across as an utter plank these days, and has done for some time, but she cannot always have been like that.
Assuming that is the case, then sympathy to one side, it is difficult to see how she continues to survive in important political roles.
Something which will get resolved as soon as someone even barely competent takes over as leader and replaces the ineffectual and utterly useless Corbyn, Along with several others, I should think.

"I think she must be ill TBH."
Apparently she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2015. But there was an unidentified illness which took her out of circulation in the last few days of the 2017 general election campaign.
I appreciate she has done well to get where she has, putting up with an increasing volume of hate mail and so on, but she comes over badly and does the Labour Party little good in interviews.

She was removed from the 2017 campaign because she'd turned herself into a music hall joke and was regarded as a disasterous liability by her party.
I have no doubt she has been a very good constituency MP, prepared to fight for her local people and is well regarded. But suitable for any kind of office she is not, she does not have the intellect to grasp even the simplest of economics. There are plenty of people ready to make excuses for her, but if a Tory MP performed to the same level those same people would be hanging him or her out to dry.

"Or making him PM"
Hahahaha there is that.

Agree something deeper must be up... her sentences now always seem to be broken and never gets to any real conclusion often missing the point of the original question.
To me it all seemed to go downhill after that disastrous LBC interview which I heard when it actually went out (although I can't stand NF's pitbull style of questioning).

A good friend seems to be acting like that; we fear he may be heading for dementia - like his twin brother.
