Thats a bit misleading, all the quoted sales figures apply to the EV market only.

As for the German economy, not so straightforward as one might think.... (and also b***er all to do with EVs)

Your link came from CCN, this is their main page with interesting headlines. All of which should not, apparently, be attributed to CCN.com.

Clearly they are tired of Fox News' moderate approach and seek to replace them. Their logo also tends to indicate their stance.

Wider German economic problems aside, one of the big problems with German cars is the lack of variation. They have, for example, the Tiguan, Karoq, and Ateca which are almost identical twins whilst PSA make the equivalent 3008, C5 Aircross and Grandland which are very different cars appealing to different segments of the market.

Cost cutting whilst still producing expensive products has not helped either - under specified DSG boxes (other DSG boxes seem more robust), 1.5 kangaroo problems, diesel gate etc.

No it's saloon/sedan cars for which Model 3 is tearing the Germans a new one.

What it doesn't show is the real big sellers are the SUV variants.

That CNN report *is* extremely misleading.

Not surprisingly Tesla is doing well in the USA as they show. But in talking about Germany (or Europe) they have simply christened the move to EVs by all manufacturers as "the Tesla effect".

If you look at the real data for 2019, Tesla's total market share in Germany was 0.3%. In the UK it was so small Tesla is lumped into "Other Imports".

>>That CNN report.....

Their name is intentionally used to encourage that confusion.

It is NOT CNN, it is a cowboy outfit call CCN.

And that's about how much effort and integrity they put into the rest of their fake news / fairy story /pile of s***e.

Thanks.
I thought it odd that CNN would publish such rubbish.

No, that's because Tesla are not signed up members of SMMT I believe.

AIUI that is at Tesla's request as they do not publish sales figures for individual territories - however in the UK when the bulk of the 'others' are BEVs, it's not hard to work out Tesla sales!!
