My 55 reg Subaru's been parked for just under a week, and i went into it to retrieve something, and the alarm went off and the central locking went mad. Car wouldn't start.

i've disconnected the battery, but i'm guessing that the battery's finally given up. Car's five years old, done 80,000 and the battery seems to be the original.

Any ideas?

Buy a new one?

It would be worth sticking the old on charge and seeing if it will take a charge, then checking for a drain before fitting a new one though.

The OE Panasonic battery was the ONLY thing that failed during my 3 years ownership of an Outback - the batteries Vauxhall were fitting to Nova's 25 years ago were much higher standard!

I fitted a Bosch S5005 but you'd need to check the measurements for an Impreza.

I'd try charging the critter with a CTEK car battery charger available from ebay, Halfords etc.
