... is under discussion at the moment (there's a rude cartoon of it in today's comic).

It was a present from France. But am I right in thinking it was made of cast aluminium, shipped from France in piecess and assembled - bolted together - on the spot?

The Frogs were and are very good at original technology, I've always thought.

You are correct that it was made in France and shipped in pieces, but it is made of copper - hence the green oxide color. (Note US spelling given that we are on that theme)

It's probably worth less as scrap metal than it is as the statue.

Why a blowtorch - just use the right sized spanner.

I think the irony on that is lost on Trump. And yet his parents were immigrants. And at one point through her work his current wife (an immigrant) might have been working illegally.

Actually, wasn't his grandfather German (Friedrick) and the family lied about that. He ran brothels and that's where the money started.

Exactly. He is a liability to the world. He was okay on the Apprentice and could be entertaining at times. As POTUS he's not meant to entertain the world like this - e.g. as a comedian.
