The article mentions models with keyless entry, which surely only affects a few very new models and then it goes on to exclude most of the current popular range.

Not sure if this is really news?

I recall that Golf models from around the late 1990s/early 2000s could be broken into via the driver's door - it was featured on Watchdog or a similar programme.

I asked about the suggested modification for my MKIV Bora at the time, but the service manager of my town's main VW dealership hadn't a clue what I was talking about, even though it was supposed to have warranted a recall to fit a special plate inside the lock.

Yep, had one of the reinforced lock surrounds added to my MK2 Golf, simple DIY job.

Some early VWs could be broken into with half a tennis ball.
