The trouble is, there is no national grid, so they cannot share surplus from one area (the North) into other needy areas (everywhere else).

After a few seconds, you are told the article is only available to subscribers.

If you are desperate to read and are using a PC, with the cursor on the page before the divert, hit CNTRL A then CNTRL C, then open Word (or similar) and paste in with CNTRL V. Won't look pretty, but is readable.

I don't know why, its free to me.

Essentially it says that the surplus of supply has reduced the spot price of electricity to $0 for the last 100 odd days but that the decrepit infrastructure prevents them sharing the northern surplus with the slightly more challenged south.

In that case, it's reading your ISP address and Chilean and the rest of South American ISP users get subscriber status. Not difficult to do.

Of course its not difficultdifficult to do, but its not actually doing it. As far as I can tell without putting much effort into it because I dont really care, my ad blockers n stuff prevent the screen asking me to subscribe.

Having no investments in Chilean electricity, I am content to let local capitalism take its course.

Naturally I hope the Chilean poor won't suffer unduly (FMR assures us that rich Gringos are all right anyway, but I did specify the poor).
