I wish people stopped banging on about Norway. We are no way like Norway.
Our economy is far larger and we have a huge service sector.
Please please stop trying to use Norway as an example.

Isn't Norway a funny shape? I wonder who drew the border and what he was drinking.
|
>>GOD drew our border.
My learned friend clearly hasn't visited Pangaea.
|
Go on, I'll play.

I agree we are unlike Norway, our politicians spent our oil money and much more. Norway is a wealthy country, we are a destitute one trillions in debt.
|
Then why bang on about the European Union.
|
I was here about a year ago, hot mulled wine in a tepe with a roaring fire between viewing the northern lights makes for a pleasant evening.

I need glasses to see over long distances.

To which we pay millions of pounds per day of money we have borrowed.

Scotland are going independent.
Cornwall wants independence.
Yorkshire wants independence.
Whats next a Wessex.

Flying home from the Canaries Dec 20th last year with Jet2, en route to LBA, our pilot broadcast that the N Lights were clearly visible off our port side. I always try and get a window seat, so had a grandstand view for ten minutes.... Most unusual at 35,000 ft on a cloudless night directly over Cork.
I would be most interested to hear from FF on how far south he has seen them

I would love to have Norways per capita income.
|
And their cost of living?
|
I think it was about £8-9 a pint last time I was there. Ouch...

The reason alcohol is so expensive in Scandinavia because the natives kill each other when drunk.
My mate Jan used to run a Café in the Maasharbour area in Rotterdam.
Always fights and mayhem when the Swedes got paraletic.

And fairly frequently themselves, look at the suicide stats

No their per capita income.
|
You are becoming repetitive, Fluffster.
|
Define what you mean. If you are talking GDP per capita then Luxembourg is way higher than Norway. If you are talking average earnings then you would be better off being Irish or Danish.
And you wouldn't have to eat raw fish.
|
I like Denmark, and pickled fish come to that.

Fluffy my little furry tribble, have you ever been to Norway?
|
Has he seen the price of beer in Norway? It does have the benefit that you are inclined to be very moderate with the imbibing. As we have found on a holiday, to follow where Dad went on a train trip to meet a few Germans. Then he had to beat a hasty retreat….

My part of it, why not? For me, yes. But in any case the sovereignty argument may be a false one. As Tariq Ali (remember him?) claims in the current LRB,
"Everybody knows that Britain has been a vassal state since 1956. Brexit...can't restore sovereignty. The only truly sovereign state in the Western world is the United States.
Discuss *that*.

Oh Gaaaad... Tariq Ali's not a bad cat, but anyone can talk ovoids sometimes. Even I can.
