Ambulance packed full of explosives found outside an Arena. For some reason very little on the BBC but the Manchester Evening News is following it live.

German Police report no explosives found.

Looks like a rightful and understandable over reaction, at the time the media was suggesting an ambulance was packed with explosives. I think we are now heading for a time when bomb threats and evacuations will become a way of life but that protects people then so be it.

Welcome to the eighties :-)

No. Absolutely not.
Firstly if you start evacuating everywhere at the drop of a hat, then come the time there is a *real* need to evacuate people will be lethargic and unhurried. Possibly therefore dying.
Secondly, why don't you ask the terrorists if there's anything else they would like to achieve, since you are prepared to hand control of your life across to them.

working in London in the 70s and 80s, we had well rehearsed procedures. Threats were graded, evacuation of buildings was discouraged, we had "safe" areas (indicated by black and yellow tape on the ceilings) glass was filmed to prevent shattering, and bomb blinds or curtains (to prevent the ingress of shrapnel)were installed.
Everything possible done to minimise disruption and carry on life as normal.

With enough false alarms the terrorists will get wise and put bombs in the evacuation routes.
This isn't going to end well!

>>No. Absolutely not.
Every time one takes off one's belt and shoes at airport security, that's another victory for the terrorists.

And every time you refuse is another missed flight

Quite.
Every sensational news report, every worried person, every bit of chaos or change, every security check or military action, every single one is the terrorist achieving his desires - receiving attention, affecting your life and making you wish he'd go away so much that eventually you will give in.
