Maureen O'Hara, probably the last of the great film stars has died at 95. Star of How Green was my Valley and The Quiet Man. She was the last of a group which made a few films together including John Wayne, Victor McGlaglen, Barry Fitzgerald and his brother Arthur Shields, Mildred Natwick and Ward Bond.
The Quiet Man must be my all-time favourite film.
The second death is that of South Manchester's own star, Kirsty Howard, 20 yrs old. Kirsty was born with her heart back to front and was not expected to live beyond 4 years old.
She dedicated her life to raising money for Francis House children's hospice in Didsbury and raised millions of pounds in her short life. RIP Kirsty...and thanks.

I saw her on late news last night Teddy. A bit tear jerking I have to say. R.I.P. Young Lady.

Coincidentally, The Quiet Man was on yesterday.

I had to look up How Green... because I thought I'd seen it and that the big-name female lead was Bette Davis. Turns out that was The Corn Is Green, also set in Wales and made a few years later. So now I know.
