A light tapping noise from the engine area. Not engine speed, but related - belt RPM? At tickover, goes with a very slight increase in RPM. Noticed three or four days ago. It might perhaps be getting a little worse, or I may be listening more carefully, but it is very slight now. FSH, last service 15/4/2010, new cambelt/tensioner/idle bearing/water pump Jul/2010.
Any ideas as to cause?

Worth getting it looked at IMO/E
I assume Scudo has a FIAT engine and not a PSA unit but we had similar noises off on our 2005 1.8IDI Berlingo. Sounded like grit in the tyre treads except relating to engine and not road speed. Turned out to be beginnings of cambelt break up; a damaged tensioner was pushing the belt outwards against the edge of its drive pulley.
An expensive repair but far cheaper than the failure alleviated.
