I have the Lineatronic in my 2014 Outback and I like it, most of the research I did before buying suggested it is reliable too. Economy isn't bad for such a big 4WD petrol car 28-30mpg around town and low 40s mpg on a run although in the UK I guess it would need to be the diesel given the fuel prices and tax regime.
Other posts suggest that the OP's car choice is a torque converter auto, if it's DSG then as a 2.0L it will be wet clutch, my experience suggests that you should avoid the DQ200 dry clutch variant fitted in lower powered derivatives.
