Not uncommon in their day. IIRC the guy who ran the shop opposite school had one c1972.

Not for me MD! I like my home comforts too much...blown air heating, heated towel rail, and room to move;)

In summary Commer had most room inside, Bedford, especially the 2.3 was quickest, and the Transit or VW best to drive although the VW interior was more camper than motor caravan.

Having seen the stupid money which modern campervans attract, at ten grand I'd buy the damn thing and just use it.

with fairly minimal maintenance you could get good use out of it with minimal depreciation, classic insurance and no VED how can you lose?

BY any yardstick, thats a little cracker and not a lot of money for such.

When I was about 6 or so our family (circa 1968) we had a very early swb Transit Dormobile conversion. How 5 of us lived in for a fortnight, I haven't a clue! It had sliding front doors which was a good way of keeping warm when driving around the hotter parts of Europe!
