Lexus RX300 - 04 3.0 Burbling exhaust sound - BiggerBadderDave

It has developed a bit of a deep burbling coming from the back end. When I passed a back-street exhaust garage I asked them to stick it on the ramp and have a look. They said there are no leaks or holes but they do rot from inside on the mufflers. They didn't look at the manifold, they didn't have access to it.

So what do I do?

It runs sweet as a nut and it's been looked after like it just left the factory. I just detest that damned noise.

Your back street garage is right, the baffles and stuffing inside the silencer have fallen apart and if you don't like the noise, you will have to fork out for a new one.

If you want the same noise - or lack of it - that you had before it will have to be a genuine Lexus part too, not a pattern part.

That happened on my Astra. It sounded great, but with an MoT coming up...
