I've no doubt that the landy would have been fine. It's permanent 4 wheel drive and low range should have dealt with the climb, but of course not being there it's hard to tell. Usually driver error.

4x4 = fine. 4x0 = 0

While talking with an AA mechanic who was equipped with a LWB Land Rover at a Scottish skiing area he told me that most of his work in winter was pulling urban owned 4X4s out of snowdrifts and ditches. His thoughts were that the drivers assumed that a 4X4 could go anywhere. Driving one off a cliff is a bit extreme though.
