Got a strange one this morning.
Whilst paying my council tax online, the connection timed out.
I now have a situation, where I can get on most sites, but a few 'cannot be found'.
XP, BT infinity
looking at the BT site, all is supposed to be working well without any known problems.
Trying to use the 'contact us' page results in 'cannot be found'.
anyone got any ideas?

Hmm... all seems to be ok now.
very strange...

Stuff out there malfunctions or plain overloads from time to time, and sometimes it takes a few minutes to pick up alternate routes if it does. So could have just been a blip somewhere

" I can get on most (some) sites, but a few (most) 'cannot be found'."
st,
I had the same problem this morning about the same time.
Restarted computer and router a few times but problem persisted.
Also had same problem on my "smart" phone so concluded it was a BT problem.
Also on BT Infinity but with Windows 7

What browser are you using ?
Have you tried a DNS reset on your local machine ?

That's it..
I just hope I won't have issues with the payment I was putting through at the time, ie the card details going astray - I have redone the transaction as it didn't finalise, and if I pay 2 instalments in one month its no biggie, but if the details get into other hands....

I wouldn't worry. The whole thing about secure connections is that the secure you from your browser right through to the end website. Eavesdropping etc. simply doesn't work.

The BT internet problem was one of the main stories on BBC News.... In view of what's going on in the world at present seemed, somewhat inappropriate.
