I doubt very much if the aircon in our Jazz has had much in the way of routine servicing - while I have the service book and several old MOTs confirming a very low mileage, there are no records of anything being done to the air conditioning. Today I changed the pollen filter and although it was not Honda OE it was pretty filthy
As an aside:what an easy job - the instructions with the Bosch filter I bought reckoned it's a five minute job. Wrong! It took two minutes. Other makers - SEAT are you listening - take note!
So back to the question- which I have not yet posed - should I have the aircon system re-gassed?
If so should I use the likes of Kwik-Fit, Halfords or other chains, an indie , or should I use a specialist firm mobile ,or static?
They all make similar claims; the prices range from £45 to £55.
Are they all much of a muchness, has anyone real-life experience?

Had my ten-year-old Nissan done once in its ten years. I noticed one Summer it wasn't quite as 'sharp' as it had been. It had lost about 40% IIRC, quite acceptable it seems.
I'd suggest leaving it alone unless you notice a deterioration in its performance.

I would too but there's a nagging point about lubricants/seals as well as the gas itself.

From what I gather, most of the fast fit places use plug and play machines.
If you've got something to measure the temperature, providing you've got approx. 5 deg C coming out the dash vents then there can't be much wrong with it.
If your system is weak through corrosion or stone damage to the condenser, you have to factor in whether regassing the AC system will put additional stresses on those weakened components.

Why use is aircon to you up in N.Notts., or have you upped sticks and gorn back to España?

If there is no record of any a/c service check, then I think it would be a good idea to let an indy a/c specialist take a look.At the current ambient temps of around 15-16 degrees,a system that is only half charged with gas will work fairly well. The problem with the big shed outllets is they don't really understand what is going on.The car gets piped onto the machine, the operator enters the reg no/car details onto the database, presses the button ,and bobs your uncle.Job done ,hopefully.

Well - then filter airflow is undoubtedly better since replacing the pollen filter.
It seems to be cooler - but it is a cooler day up by here!

Today I had my regular email from UK Hot Deals and there was a hot deal for an air-conditioning re-gas and antibacterial treatment at ATS, via Amazon Local, for only £33.00
I don't mind too much punting £33 on a big shed re-gas operation, ("Normal" price allegedly £55) so have booked it for tomorrow at 10 am

I had my Honda jazz air regassed, on its mot dec2013, seems to me that you need to check it every two years as you lose the aircon gas. this was done by the dealer, the best price for me was £66 this included the wurth antibactericidal treatment.
If you planning to keep the car then its worth doing

The Vectra is 8 years old this July and the AC still works fine - touch wood. Never had a top up.

My understanding is.
Halfords or anywhere that is doing a re-gas for just a few ponds will be using one of these automated systems.
The operator appears to attach a couple of pipes and dialsl up the car/model.
The machine sucks out the existing contents and by law recovers it.
Applies a vacuum for a specified time and if all is OK ( not leaking i.e sucking air in ) then fills the system with the correct amount of gas and hopefully lubricating oil.
If the vacuum test fails the process stops there and your car has NO gas in it.
An A/C guy can suck out the gas and then for example fit a new( not expensive) drier in the system before re-gassing it..
He can also check the compressor, it clutch etc are all working correctly.
If there is a leak then a dye test may show where the problem is.

Air con should be serviced every two years. The AC System needs to be used in order to prevent some leakage through seals. So if you haven't used the system for a long time and you are not getting very cold air through then most likely it has leaked passed seals. Full tank of fuel for a re-gas? I wish. Cost me £85 to fill up the other day, can get a re-gas for half that.
Totally true about the cost saving rubbish mind, its more expensive in fuel to have you window open than have your air con on. They do need re-gassing at some point, the way in which they are made/designed. A temp check will show you how effective your air con is. A digital temp gauge in an air vent, on an optimum system you should get 4 degress or so.
good info, but somewhat marred by your attempt at self promotion, of which I've now removed.
