I dare say in 1950 someone said "oh those great big ugly televisions with the tiny screens are so ugly, nobody will put one of those on the sideboard".
It's all intriguing stuff. There are all sorts of privacy concerns too, and having contact lenses would make those even harder to sort.
But that's just a patent, not a product yet. But in similar fashion, if you've not caught up with the developments with Oculus Rift and similar, it's time to start paying attention. Even David Attenborough is currently involved in an Oculus Rift project, with a new nature thing about Bolivia. This is going to be very big very soon.
I tried an Oculus Rift a few days back. It is indeed astonishing. This stuff is already trickling out and can be played with.
