Perhaps one for the Renault Family (if of course they would be so kind).
The Motorola Defy (ant) has been usurped by an Iphone 4. Very second hand, but immaculate beyond belief. Very trusted source and no issues as far as I am concerned.
I have backed up through a Third party all necessary info to the Cloud or Smog or whatever the latest buzz word is. It is something from a company (is that the correct word?) called Rerware.
I need to know that my stuff (Android) will eventually be able to get to the Iphone. I mailed Rerware some time ago and from trying to decipher their reply I gather that if I install their bumpf to the Iphone I will be able to get my stuff back from the Cloud and into my new possession. Having run this by the young know-it-all-technical-geeks that abound everywhere they drew a blank and obviously I too am unsure. I would hate to lose several hundred contacts in the process.
I had set my sights on a Samsung Galaxy S111 or a Note, but this Iphone thing appeared via the Orf Spring for very little £££ so here we are.
Clear concise answers that a BILDER (sic) can grapple with would be much appreciated.
Regards to all.......MD

I don't know about Rerware, but if you have the contacts on an Android phone you can presumably sync to Google contacts if they aren't there already. I keep all mine there and have that successfully syncing with the iphone.
If your contacts are already accessible via Gmail then you have a route if your chosen one doesn't work.

Thanks Manatee. I am very well conversed in my own field of expertise, but you may as well be talking to me in Mandarin.

Do you have a Google mail or Google+ account?
If you do, then Google mail is capable of holding a copy of all your data/contacts.
So, you can ensure your contacts are...
Android -> Google
Google -> iPhone.
There are other ways, that is just one, and perhaps the simplest.

Hi Mark.. Hope you are well given recent matters??
I do have a Google email address for the Pesky play store thingy that is all.
I believe that with Rerware that I will be able to carry over much more than just contacts. That was it's attraction, if of course it works. I actually have nothing to suggest it wont, but of course when one puts a new sim card in a different phone (with the same number) and 'they' 'kill' the previous one it may be too late to do anything about it. Years ago Ii reverted to putting stuff back in manually!!.

Sorry MD, I'm not very Android savvy. I thought/think that the standard mail set up on Android effectively puts your contacts into Gmail.
If you go to mail.google.com and log in (you must have a Google account with an Android phone IIRC), then switch to 'Contacts' using the drop down top left, do you see all your contacts?
If so, you are half way there as far as they are concerned.

Kind of average, to be honest MD. I kind of had trivial whiplash time pain in neck & shoulders, but that's gone and was, as I say, trivial.
I'm struggling a bit with two recollections; The first is the accident just as its happening and how I might have done better. The second is what I saw as I got through the wreckage on the other vehicle, but its fading - thanks for asking.
I don't know about Rerware, but I'll have a look for you. However, don't worry about the SIM / disconnect stuff. That will affect very little in fact. You have time to worry about this.
Give the Rerware a go, should if you have difficulties, and if it doesn't work there are other approaches we can lead you through.
And a Google email address is all you will need.
Good luck and let us know the progress.

Muchas Gracious Mark.
Do keep us all up to speed regarding the Traffic light incident and stay well.

Rerware will do what you wish.
Read chapter 4...
www.rerware.com/Android-Backup/MyBackupUserGuide.pdf
Does this help?
Bear in mind this will *NOT* remove the contacts from your Android. It will copy them to backup, so you get more than once chance to get it right.
If you're worried, it may be that the Google route will keep you safe.
In any case, do you know how to connect your Android to your PC and make a copy there?

I have connected the phone before, but Motorola doesn't make anything simple. I once managed to store a back up and other times it has failed. I will read chapter 4 now. Thank you.

Don't ask. For now just need to know how to multiple delete contacts from iphone 4. Grrr
|
MD, on other phones I have seen multiple contacts appearing as they are stored on SIM, Google, phone itself, Facebook etc.
If you have the option under your contacts, select only one form of contacts to display eg only phone and see if that removes the others?
|
Thanks Bobby, but sorted anyway. I used a free App called Groups from the Apple store. It seems you cannot multiple delete from the phone. What Crap. I am getting there.
