Would any of you who are in the Telecommunication industry be able to shed any light on this please? I need to know the owner of an 0844 number (not the paying customer but the originating telco). Is there such a list or would Ofcom be able to help. Reason I ask is that there is a problem with said number and I need to check the destination DDI's but not knowing who to contact I cant.

I'm not quite sure what you're after, but if you wish to know who the number was originally assigned to, then Ofcom is the one to ask I think. They manage the National Telephone Numbering Plan and block issue non-geographic telephone numbers.

It was for example not who the phone rings to but the controlling telephone company. Imagine Car4Play Ltd have an 0844 number, before it was launched they will have gone to say C&W and said we would like an 0844 number for our company. They will have provided the number and set the end destination number. It was that info I needed.

In that case you do need Ofcom.
