Luckily I have had very limited experience of what goes on in courts but when I have had to be there, it strikes me of a huge waste of money and lots of inefficiencies!
However today in Glasgow we have some alleged terrorist suspects being brought from a high security police station to court for a provisional hearing or whatever they are called. I am assuming its the one where they just agree with their name and address and that's all.
So why does this need to come to court, why does this "hearing" actually do and can it not be done in another way, with much less costs, less hassle, and less risks?

the only answers you will get on here is "hang them first - ask questions later"

Not at all. I'd not bother with the questions.

Lot of these "provisional hearings" and subsequent remand hearings are now done by video link from the remand centres. Lot of prisoners opt to appear as it's a day out and has escape potential for escape and/or the passing of contraband
