 Whoops! - bathtub tom
I've noticed an occasional clunk from the car the last couple of times I took it out.

Today it gave a rhythmic clunk-clunk-clunk on a roundabout, found the F/N/S wheel nuts loose!

I last had that wheel off when I renewed the pads a month or more ago. The car's had a subsequent MOT and done a couple of lengthy journeys.

Must be getting careless in my old age.

I always tighten mine with a torque wrench after I've had the wheels off, and after the car has been in my dealer's workshop. When I was working I used to check the accuracy of the torque wrench in the Inspection Department, but since I retired I no longer have that facility.

You can test a torque wrench using a firmly mounted vice and a known weight. I keep meaning to check mine!

You can't test a click type torque wrench with a firmly mounted vice and a known weight.

That's alright in practice, but with a torque wrench length of 15" and a specified wheel bolt torque of 100 ft lbf I'd need to hang an 80 lb weight on the end of the wrench ~ and I haven't got an 80 lb weight and my vice/bench isn't capable of withstanding those sorts of load. I could check it at a lower reading but I wouldn't like to rely on the degree of accuracy being constant throughout the full range of the wrench.

I used a torque wrench to teach myself what effort 70 foot pounds was (common wheel nut figure). I'm quite confident over 20 years later of being able to repeat it.

However, I'd not use the supplied wrench as they are invariably too short to remove the wheels a garage has airgunned carefully torqued on. The trick is to use a decent socket to get a good fit, and an overlong handle to remove, and learn the shorter distance of how far up the handle to go when tightening.
