A Mr McKenzie of Dundee has been charged with "culpably and recklessly" producing electricity "with total disregard for the safety of yourself and others".
Sheriff Way asked: "I don't quite understand - how does one culpably and recklessly produce electricity?"
Fiscal depute Laura Bruce said: "The Crown's position is that he had this man-made assembly in his house suspended from the ceiling by thin ropes.
"There was a car battery and cans of petrol nearby."

part of me thinks he is stupid but i also think he needs a pat on the back for thinking out of the box

I take a negative view of these proceedings.

A Wimshurst machine, 30,000 volts and practically no current?
Connect it up to the letterbox and watch the postman cartwheeling across the road, more or less unharmed...
|
Perhaps we should be careful while the proceedings are live.

The Procurator Fiscal must have blown a fuse.

>>The Procurator Fiscal must have blown a fuse.
He would, he charged him!
You never know what might happen in the next few weeks.
Scottish Govt are cutting back on Legal Aid.
If the accused has £68 + left after rent/rates/food etc they have to contribute. Equally if they have more than £750 in cash, they have to pay.
Say, defence fee is £500, Scottish Legal Aid board might pay £300 and lawyer is expected to extract the other £200 from the ne'er do well. Highly unlikely to smell, far less see the £200. If they need a Solicitor say 3 mths later they still will not pay, they will go to another town and hire another solicitor and repeat the process until they run out of firms!
So lawyers are on the point of taking any Legal Aid cases - on the past SLB paid for the whole cost.
Back up of accused in Police Cells, Prison Remand etc and there are time limite within which the accused must appear in court, fail to meet the time the accused walks!

I bet there are a battery of hacks in the press box, keeping up with current proceedings.

a night in the cells awaits...
Terminal stupidity
