Mods - if you feel this should be in computery bit, please move.
Recently had a bit of a row with my sister who has cut off all contact - we don't know what we did wrong!
Anyway, today wife went to update her mobile to a Galaxy 3S mini and the guys set up the phone for her and transferred contacts etc. She came out of shop and I sent her a message saying "Welcome to technotit world" but it only came up with my phone number as sender not my name. So, we looked at contacts to see if my name and number had transferred.and I scrolled down the list and got to my sister's name (also begins with P but aphabetically before mine. "That's odd" says I, "her name appears about 50 times". So Mrs W went back into shop and the guy found sister's name about 250 times so no room for mine on contact list. So he deleted them all but one, restarted phone at which point sister's name came up another 200 times. Each entry had a little Google sign next to it - "It's not your contacts list at fault - it's syncing with Google" he said, pressed another button and then got rid of the 200 sister's name. He said he had never heard of or seen this before, neither has my son (also cut off by sister, we know not why!!)who we rang about it.
We are, of course full of conspiracy theories about evil sister and interception of wife's gmail/phone calls etc.
Any suggestions or conspiracy theories from you guys?
TIA
Phil

No idea, except its not Sister revenge!

Log into Google and sort out your contacts there.
Although deleting from the phone ought to delete them online too.

i made the same mistake when i got the galaxy sii phone.
first time i turned the phone on, it asked if i wanted to import contacts from the sim card.
big mistake.
correct contacts but very old phone numbers.
then i signed into my google account and then a further 200 duplicates came down.
to get aroind this i deleted all contacts (google wont allow all contacts deleted in one go).
i then synced with google and got 150 contacts but some duplicates.
i then joint contacts and the duplocates disappered.
i guess using a pc and managing contacts that way would be quicker.
my problem was that i use a tablet pc and my contacts were on there as well.
hence the duplicates of duplicates
technology great when it works with you, a damm pain in the backside when it tries to be clever

Thanks chaps - but disappointed there are no conspiracy theories! ;-)

See another good reason not to buy an iPhone - you would have avoided that delicious conspiracy fever....:-)

What's wrong with her then? Menopausal or something? They go a bit odd when the plumbing plays up.

"Menopausal or something?"
Bit late for that - happened at her 60th birthday do - mind you, she has got a new boyfriend!!
It's just a "woman thing" I think!!
Cue pda? ;-)

Phil, I haven't a clue about how women think. I gave up on them years ago and just steer clear of having any female friends...too easy to offend them!
Humph, I talke it you mean as opposed to dirty old men who are usually like that all their life?:)
