Derek Jameson, broadcaster and editor, has died aged 82

The 82-year-old, who edited three national newspapers, had a heart attack at his home, his wife Ellen said.
Jameson edited the Daily Express, the Daily Star and the News of the World and was also managing editor of the Daily Mirror and a popular presenter on BBC Radio 2.
Listeners at the time will remember his daily catch phrase, 'morning, morning, Jameson here'.

More a case of "Jamieson not here" rather than his slogan of 30 yrs ago.
He wasn't that bad in small dozes. Although he worked for the BBC he also sued the BBC for defamation - and lost.

It was a piece on the much missed satirical 'Week Ending' that did the damage. Portrayed him as a barrow boy form the East End - 'the man who thought erudite was glue'.
