Panasonic TV - keeps finding new channels - Focusless
I know a few others have Panny Tvs, so is anyone else getting the 'New channels found' message every time they switch on? I've pressed Ok and let it do its stuff loads of times but it's still finding them (allegedly).

One possibility - forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1466745
"Common problem on certain Panasonic kit - relates to channels without LCNs which won't add and will continually be detected as new channels. Once they are cleared up the problem should go away. It might be advisable to switch off the notification of new channels."

Would like to rule out a problem with the tuner as it's only just back from being repaired (under warranty).

I've had a few new channels found lately, I just press exit until I get fed up with seeing the message :)

I wouldn't say I keep getting them though, so maybe switch off the notification then,
and do a manual update occasionally.

Mine started doing it a week or so ago and I've only had it about a month. I first thought it was maybe Channel 4 adding extra Paralympic channels, but after this thread I'm not so sure.

I only switch it on every couple of days or so (when there's something to watch) and will keep an eye on it. If it causes a problem I will switch off the notification.

Thanks. If it's not just me then I'll assume it's not another fault.

Ours (now quite a few years old) used to do this occasionally. All the more annoying as we have Sky and don't use Freeview much.

In the menus somewhere there was an option to turn off this checking for new channels. I could dig out my manual and see which menu it was on.

Edit: Might have been (probably) 'Display a notification message' and the description in the manual is: 'Selects whether to give a notification message when a new DVB service is found. (Off / On)'

Not bothered about turning it off - my worry was whether it was a fault in my TV or not.

I have a Panasonic and it does this. I don't find it a problem, it takes a couple of minutes to search, or load, or whatever it does and then it's all done for about another month.

No big deal.

You might if it was doing it a few times per day!

If it has been in for a repair - could it be that they installed updated software or changed the default settings?

The new software may have an problem?

However I would just turn off the notification option and manually check once in a while.

Can't remember which version it came back with but it's running the current release now, and I've checked the settings.

That's the point of this thread - looks like it hasn't given that Dulwich is seeing the same thing, although one or 2 more would be reassuring.

It could be that the channels are changing and the TV is picking up the changes. There are two settings related to this: (1) the automatic scanning and (2) the notification. You can leave (1) on and turn (2) off.
