Just had a fantastic day out at Lydden Hill at their Rallycross event.
Was a birthday treat for one of the nippers (soon to be 6) and he and siblings thoroughly enjoyed themselves as did we and the inlaws. As you don't pay for kids until they are 12 there it works out at a pretty reasonable price for the day out. The racing was brilliant as were the stunt bikes and car drifting demonstrations during lunch.
Still don't know how the scoring or anything works but who cares???
For anyone who hasn't been it is a real must!

Cor! Rallycross at Lydden still. Brilliant!
Almost makes me want a Hillman Imp again.
Almost.

Used to get good TV coverage around the time William Wollard covered the proper RAC rally.

Yes, always good value on the BBC was the rallycross. I wonder what stopped them televising it?
Produced one of the best Murray Walkerisms when, on a particularly wet day, the winning car had led the race from the start.
Murray rattled away on the advantage of leading throughout being that he had a completely clear windscreen, while everyone else's was opaque and could therefore see exactly where he was going.
As he said that, the winner crossed the line and promptly ploughed straight into a very obvious earth bank, immediately beneath the camera position for maximum effect.

I remember that!
IIRC Murray had just said something to the effect "Nothing can stop him now", when the earth bank did just that!

Mike, we have 4 Hillman Imps, you can borrow them if you like- they are quite well behaved and they all seemed to enjoy it! ;)
