Toyota Yaris - 09 1.33 Boot lock problem - helicopter
SWMBO is having intermittent problems with the boot lock of her Yaris and wordered if any other people had the same problem.

It will not always open on central locking which is very annoying when she has a full load of shopping and cannot get into the boot.....

I have usually managed to open it by using the key manually but only after a few tries .

Any ideas to cure it ?

Sounds like it's sticking, hence the difficulty with the key and the C/L actuator being unable to shift it.

Last time I saw this (on another car) it was down to the grease in the lock barrel having "set" and a thorough clean and regrease solved it. The fact that the C/L works sometimes suggests that the C/L actuator itself is OK and that it's the mechanism sticking.

WD40 and once the mechanism action is smooth again a quick quirt of sprayable white grease on the teeth of the lock mechanism: tinyurl.com/9nr9uw7
