Just had notice that there was an update.
Since updating though, web browsing has slowed right down to a crawl, and the occasional lock up of a website.
Has this product become like AVG in that it's now so bloated it slows an older PC down while it's doing all its on-line pre-checking, a pre-check of any sites or links you visit, etc?
Temp disabling Ad-Aware resolves the problem.
Win-XP Home edition, and IE8, btw.

Had the same problem a few weeks back. Uninstalled it and all was well.

Microsoft Security Essentials.
Free, does the job and has the lightest footprint of all of them.
Site-checking is inherent in IE8 anyway (smartscreen filter), so you don't need the wheel reinvented for you.

DD, I used AdAware for years until the recent update you mention, which seemed download a new version of the program that had huge ambitions.
It was a problem with Vista on the PC and Windows 7 on the laptop and I got rid of it.
I now scan with SuperAntiSpyware (free version) from time to time.

Thanks all. Gonna ditch Ad-Aware going on comments here and feedback left on download sites. A lot of people saying the same thing about how much it's slowed down their PCs.
