VW , Vauxhall and Renault , have been extensively been advertising, buy a xx plate now and buy at x price. I assume it's because the new reg models are coming out and they're trying to flog old stock. Ow that doesn't really bother me, as I'll probably run it into the ground anyway.
Vauxhall have the 1.7 85bhp at 9999 + vat which seems quite a deal, but would it be better for the 115 model, any recommendations. ?

Wouldn't you rather have a van with a bigger engine to carry some load?
Mercedes Sprinters plenty of these but rwd.
|
What you carting around? 85 bhp can be ok, I drive a SWB T5 around thats got about that much HP, it keeps up well with traffic but is alway lightly loaded.

More powerful models eat tyres on the drive wheels, plus bushes and CV joints. It's not the cost of the bits to fix it, it's the hassle of booking it in, the downtime and getting the van dropped off/picked up that's the real nuisance. Low power engines last longer, don't place so much stress on the drivetrain and use less fuel but by heck are they slow. Usually.
Nothing wrong with a run-out special edition Wotspur, try and get one with as many toys on it as you can. Everything has PAS, ABS and a CD player now. Elec windows, central locking, elec mirrors are nice to have; aircon is a luxury but a pleasant one if you make long journeys regularly.
Test-drive the models you're interested in, check the sight-lines to the mirrors (some are particularly badly positioned), check the seat comfort and all the cubby holes for holding paperwork, coffee cup, water bottle, pens, keys, phone etc etc.

Thanks guys, I carry some quite heavy things so will be looking at amongst others a Ford specialNew transit Blaze 13995 +vat, some nice extras but awful colour, but suppose its better than white. I've driven quite extensively the Vivaro and transit so won't have to test drive them too much. Still like the VW but are they worth the extra costs?
|
I guess it all depends on the mileage you do and how long your going to keep it 20k and 8 years worth go for VW if 3yrs buy the Transit.
What do you requires swb/mwb/lwb?
fwd/rwd?
I would preffer to own a German made vehicle build quality is good and should last longer, Transits plenty of them just older seem to be worn (not the word i wanted to say) :-)
|
Yeah 20k+ a year and will keep as long as it runs, hopefully more than 8 years, unless the firm goes tits up. I'll go have another look at VW cause I do like te look, but have never driven one. Think they in black look more "A" teamish !!
Probably swb or. MWB.
Can only afford about 2k and 200 /300 a month
|
Had a look on ebay plenty mwb and some in black those yellow ones are parcel carrying vans so plenty of stop starts and some wear and tear.
You might get a decent nearly new one lots cheaper would you be interested in that? There at the auctions so will still have manufacturers warranty still applied.
A good second hand one would be a fruit and veg shop van no heavy loads.!!
The vw shows a 2.4 diesel engine around 105 bhp.

We have 2 VeeDubyas on the hire fleet here. Really nice to drive. I had to take one for a longer run last week to de-frag the DPF. Did about 40 miles on the motorway at 70/80 mph. Rock steady.
Me mate near Appleby bought an ex-AA one. Turbo diesel, one sliding side door and seats behind driver for two. Still had masses of room in the back.....Very practical, I was toying with getting one when I changed the Vitara but I wanted auto and couldn't find one.
