 Ryanair and diabetics - Crankcase
Not having flown for years, we're flying soon, with (unfortunately) Ryanair, from Stansted, to France.

Last time we flew (probably with Dan Air I would think) there was none of this major security business.

I'm a type 2 and Mrs C a type 1 diabetic, so it's tablets for me and insulin, needles and syringes for her.

Best as I can tell from googling, we need to take a copy of our prescriptions, and a letter from the dr for her saying she needs to take sharps/insulin on board, and then we can take what we need in the cabin with us. Can't apparently put the insulin in the hold as it might freeze.

Anybody think otherwise, or can add anything useful?

My wife was travelling for a while with hypodermic needles to inject herself, due to illness. When we flew, she showed her prescription at security and there was no problem with taking the stuff with us.

Carry the Insulin, sharps and doctors certificate separately in a see through plastic bag and disclose to security at the control gates.

...and disclose to security at the control gates...

And don't make any jokes about the insulin being nitroglycerin. :)

Thanks guys. I had found Ryanair's web with details (thanks Focus), but also found other stuff where people said they take no notice of their own rules and tell you any old thing when you turn up, including refusing to take cabin baggage, or adding charges for things apparently arbitrarily, etc etc, so was doing a Rattle and fretting, probably unnecessarily.

Thanks for the bag tip too Zero, will do.
