I recall one particularly funny episode of Game On, the 1990s BBC1 comedy series starring Samantha Janus, in which one of the characters was in bed in considerable pain due, no doubt, to the clearly visible vacuum hose...:-)

SWMBO recently had keyhole surgery for removal of her gall bladder .

I gathered the surgeons actually used a similar inflation technique on the abdomen to separate the organs during the surgery for ease of movement of their instruments within the body. They use CO2 gas.

Apparently it is quite common to get pain in the shoulder area from the gas and it does take quite a few days to disperse from the body.

My paramedic daughter has attended two incidents recently.

Both men with rectumnal intrusions. One was a light bulb and the other an aubergine !

I'll bet our air-line man went round the room like a punctured balloon when they pulled it out !

I know friends training to be doctors at Uni (long time ago) had stories along these lines too. Light bulbs were mentioned a few times with 'excuses' to cover the embarrassment.

But the story in this case says fat and muscle had been separated by the air. He also had a swollen neck. Would that happen if the airline was inserted into his rectum? No idea.

I remember a friend at uni had a copy of Cosmo and there was a story (probably made up) about a couple, a toilet roll tube and a hamster.... I kid you not. The hamster even had a name I think... it all went wrong when they lit the match to get him back out of the tube.

Surely stomach contents would shoot out of his mouth, closely followed by excrement, and then internal organs. Nice. I hope he recover without long term complications.

I remember reading a 'funny old world' piece in Private Eye years ago about a craze in India called 'pumping', whereby youths would stick a bicycle pump up the brown eye and pump away. Apparently led to amusing sounds and a bit of a thrill. One enterprising chap tried the high pressure air hose at the petrol station... went up like a firework apparently.

In my case there was also a wave guide to zap the offending articles.

The liberal application of lubricant to what had previously been a one way system resulted in a very satisfying PAAAAARP upon removal of the tool and an interesting pebble dash pattern further behind!
