I haven’t done this for a while, but needs must. I went into WHSmith in need of a supply.
Of course, chocolate bars were shrunk some years ago to help with obesity.
And then they started packing them in, two at a time and calling them Duos - that’s to help obesity?
And then it’s £2.50 for a duo, or £2.95 for two duos. That’ll help obesity too!

Smaller bars was surely 'shrinkflation' to maintain Kraft etc profits rather than our health.
That said, thought some of the 'bogoff' type offers on obesity related products had been outlawed.
Can't remember when I last bought a bar though. Probably when I had an office in town I could nip out to the sweetshop from.

I'm a chocoholic, quarter of a bar of Bournville every evening after dinner every evening plus a dark chocolate biscuit mid morning with my coffee.
|
I've had 2 Timtams and a Tunnocks caramel wafer today while the boss has been out.
|
Had a kit kat and an aero while the boss was out doing aerobics.
|
A couple of pieces of Green & Black's 85% after dinner every evening is a must for me.
|
Thems be strong stuff my ansum, I'm on 70%
|
You'll get there in the end, old son! Just a matter of time.
|
I used to buy the 85% but prefer the 70% stuff, ideally G&Bs ginger, although I'm on their mint at the mo.
I also 'do' raw cacao.
|
What risky lives we lead. She'll notice the missing Tunnocks, but I had a cup of tea with a friend across the road who provided the undocumented Timtams. I think he gets them on the dark web.

Did you do the TimTam Slam?

No, though I'd like to try it now I've looked it up.
Does one put a towel over one's head as when eating ortolans? (Which I have no interest in trying).

Now that is a new one on me. (and have no idea how you got there from a Tim Tam slam.)

I like chocolate, but, being a health fanatic, eat only 100% chocolate bars. Yes - they do exist! (Montezuma's, available in Sainsbury's.)

Aptly named, it would play havoc with my LARS.

Had to look that up and wish I hadn't :-P
Seriously, I'm surprised having done a couple of years casework funded by a cancer charity I'd not heard of it before.

Its a surprisingly widespread, but little know side effect of Colon Cancer surgery. I was fortunate, my Trust was well clued up about it, with a support program* Mine is more or less under control now, with the aid of drugs.
*had some amusing times with the ladies at the pelvic floor clinic.

I can remember when Lay's introduced their 'Wow' potato chips, advertised as low-fat, low-calorie diet chips. All fine and dandy until you read the smallprint on the back and checked out the side effects of the Frankenstein oil they were cooked in.

I have a bit of a Tony's bar just before bed.

Remember hearing about that on the car radio en-route to the train for work.
Having a fast metabolism low cal etc was never an issue but I was still clenching...

Like others, I had not heard of LARS. However, after my bowel cancer surgery (a relatively small excision, I believe) I did have similar symptoms that could have been attributed to nerve damage. When I raised these with the surgeon he examined me and found no abnormality, but it sounds as if he had no idea about LARS and I was offered no treatment.
In my case, things have settled down now I'm on a non-inflammatory diet. Any occasional flare-ups are manageable.
