The (6ft) one in my loft started buzzing a couple of weeks ago when turned on. Today it got much louder and then failed. I don't have another 6ft available to check if it's the tube or fitting. It doesn't have a starter, so I presume it's 'self starting'. I don't want to buy another tube only to find it's the fitting.
I suspect it's the fitting. What's the opinion here?

Yes, they do. They are supplied with a dedicated starter and are a worthwhile upgrade, no more standing there for God knows how waiting for the fluorescent tube to slowly flicker into life.

I hope Duncan has sent you the key to the C4P executive washroom now you have replaced him? Glad we got rid of him, he was no focaccia good at it anyway.
I never really cracked the signing in, ISTR there was a platform login and a forum login and I was a member of another forum at the time that used the same platform, and my PC couldn't remember both. Something like that. Too hard, gave up. Story of my life.
I have just had a peer throgh the railings. First time for 2 or 3 or more years? One or two familiar names. Not a lot of activity - bit like here. I was/am a member, but can't remember my user name or password. I don't think I can be bothered to be honest.
