...................to think of the 5 British servicemen killed in the helicopter crash in Afghanistan a few days ago.
I understand that repatriation is tomorrow.
A personal interest here, as my daughter is married to a REME avionics specialist, (currently in Afghanistan) usually attached to the Army Air Corps. That Corps and its support services, is a small entity and many of the personnel are known to each other.
The mood is sombre in Odiham (where they were based) and Wattisham (where a number have served).

I was just uploading and editing some photos I took last week on the Somme. Comment was made in a discussion that people take a huge interest in a 100 year old war and disregard what this country's young people are doing right now.
This memorial always springs to mind when stuff like this happens.
"When you go home, tell them of us and say: 'For your tomorrow we gave our today'"

Thanks Roger I will have my moment. To be honest I had not heard about that one going down.

Grew up during the second world war and later took an interest in things. Covered as a hack some Brize Norton repatriations from the Falklands.
I may pass for a lefty here and there but I have no problem with the military.
