Link didn't work for me, but I imagine from 1948...
Investing money in improving people's health now through the new NHS will same us money in the long run as diseases are eradicated and people become healthier.
Tee hee hee.

It does not have the most often told lie in that list.
"Of course I will still love you in the morning"

I'll be careful
There's a cheque in the post.

It would not be in the public interest to ...

And from my Doctor's surgery:
Your phone-call is important to us ....

>>Your phone-call is important to us ....
It was when the shysters could use BT 0844 numbers for their surgeries... then they got a cut of the call charges.

Well, not really. It's man made global warming you're after.

"We shall urgently put measures in place to make sure that nothing like this ever happens again"
Social Services and Child Protection, Banks, assorted miscarriages of Justice, medical snafus, abuse in care homes and so it goes on.
|
"Under this Government, Britain will not return to the boom and bust of the past."
|
'We will cut prices at a stroke'
Heath I think in 1970.

"They all sound like that, John. Nothing to worry about".

Ha ha. Reminds me of viewing a mk2 Astra GTE at a small used car lot back in the mid 90's. I remember the Frank Butcher clone dealer (right down to the cockney accent, sovereign rings, enormous tinted glasses and sheepskin coat) firing the thing up to a cacophony of clattering and tapping from the top end. He clearly clocked my horrified expression, looked me straight in the eye and said:
"That's owight my san, been sittin' innit. Just let the oil get raaaaahnd. That's all it is, let the oil get raaaaahnd."
Best part of 20 years later, my mates and I still use "let the oil get raaaahnd" when confronted by a sick sounding engine. :-)

'We will cut prices at a stroke'
Or Only Fools and Horses, 1983. I didn't know about Heath, and I wonder if the quotation was intentional.

No, Climate change as they now call it is just a taxation con. The climate has always changed and our contribution is insignificant compared to a major volcanic event, or an asteroid hit. Real climate change will wipe out humans very rapidly. Even the reversal of the earth's magnetic field (which is overdue) will have an effect.

Barrister's one:
With the greatest possible respect your honour
= you are dense and a discredit to judicial office.
|
"It was the right thing to do" - uttered by a politician, of course!
|
"This won't hurt"
"Believe me.......................................... (insert lie of choice)"

Of course I love you.
The pound in your pocket is still worth the same.
Of course I'll respect you in the morning.
There are WMD in Iraq.
There are intelligent politicians who do not lie.
I've had the snip.

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing..."

Gordon Brown could fill a thread of his own:
"I will not allow house prices to get out of control and put at risk the sustainability of the recovery.” in 1997
"The tax burden for ordinary families, for lower and middle-income families is
coming down, it’s coming down this year, it’s going to come down next year, it’s
actually going to be the lowest tax burden since 1972" in 2000
"Tony Blair is my friend" in 2006.

"I promise I wont _ _ _ in your mouth"
(dont blame me, BBD told me to put that down)
|
"We don't need one, I have a very low sperm count".
|
>> "We don't need one, I have a very low sperm count".

"We don't need one, I've had a vasectomy"

Was that said by Mark Oaten? (Former Lib-Dem MP.)
