We have new red route by a nearby school - ORB>>>
Not far from us is a junior school where we have long had problems getting past the parents parking willy-nilly completely obstructing the pavement and driveways at drop off and collection times.
The occasional parking warden didn't have much effect.
Our local council tried some extra yellow zigzag lines as well as the white zig-zags by the pedestrian crossing, but roundly ignored and people with prams and pushchairs forced to walk in the road to get past the cars on the pavement.

We now have double red lines signposted timed so no parking at school drop off/collection times and bollards along one side by the school and a bit further along on the opposite side where people used to park for school and to walk to work in the hospital there are also red lines and bollards to stop people parking wheels on the pavement. probably about 500 metres of road red lined

I wonder what the parents will think now as it has all been put in place over the easter holidays and there is little spare parking on nearby residential streets.

Without enforcement it’s pointless. Hospital has them on the ambulance route to A&E - Largely ignored.

There was an e-mail that a neighbour's wife (who works for the Council) saw that the local councillors had also asked for enforcement.

It is also an approach road to the hospital.

I forgot to add that the pavement in front of the school had been widened a good bit, so tomorrow should be interesting.

Any update on how this might be working?

Update.
The section of Mill road between Nayland rd and the Northern approach road is about 400 metres long. Single and double red lines all the way. It is a bus route and the school is nearer the nayland rd end.
I have walked blodwen that way and with the pencil bollards by the school and on the opposite side further along there is now a clear road at all times. The local pub lets parents use the car park for drop off and the Co-op opposite has some on street parking in front.
All in all (personally) I think it's been a success. People living along there can now get out of their driveways too. We're only about 70 yards from the junction of mill rd and have not noticed any changes in our little close (which has very few free spaces at the best of times)

The Council also re-instated our wooden bollards that had been knocked down/rotted and put up no parking signs on the grass verges. The neighbours have also put up no parking signs in front of gates and garages.
The proof will probably be when it gets cold and rainy in the winter later in the year.

So what do you believe may result ? ORB may have 'given away' many other 'addresses' ?

I hid this while awaiting a response from Orb, who was happy to let it stand as is.

I said "may have unintentionally". If ORB's happy, that's fine. I alerted him in case he wasn't.

Blodwen looks a lovely dog BTW.
