Not far from us is a junior school where we have long had problems getting past the parents parking willy-nilly completely obstructing the pavement and driveways at drop off and collection times.
The occasional parking warden didn't have much effect.
Our local council tried some extra yellow zigzag lines as well as the white zig-zags by the pedestrian crossing, but roundly ignored and people with prams and pushchairs forced to walk in the road to get past the cars on the pavement.
We now have double red lines signposted timed so no parking at school drop off/collection times and bollards along one side by the school and a bit further along on the opposite side where people used to park for school and to walk to work in the hospital there are also red lines and bollards to stop people parking wheels on the pavement. probably about 500 metres of road red lined
I wonder what the parents will think now as it has all been put in place over the easter holidays and there is little spare parking on nearby residential streets.
