Just back from a few days launching the new MGS6 EV to their dealer network.
The bits that worry people most first. It’s a 77kW/h battery, that in my hands achieved 2.7miles per kW/h. That’s 208 miles on a full charge.
That said, I was driving the Trophy Dual Motor with 357hp as standard. There is a Single Motor, which is less powerful but rangier. Cold days, and a route that involved lots of stops and then acceleration up to 60mph will have curtailed the range. I’d expect it to be a 250 mile car ordinarily, with the Single Motor going a little further.
Well built, rides well, good seats, decent quality materials, there’s a lot to like in a car that straddles C and D SUV segments. Very good rear leg room, without the feeling you get from some EV’s that you’re sitting with your knees up around your ears.
Possibly not the most dynamic offering, but most drivers aren’t looking to push the outer limits of the ride/handling envelope.
I could live with one, and I’d probably take the Single Motor for the range and (slightly) improved steering feel.

Interesting. How much?

Interesting too that they think somebody wants 350hp more than a decent range. I love cars but really don't care about bhp within reason.

How much I could love an EV I still don't know. The only electric vehicle I have driven was a forklift. Scintillating 0-5mph performance

I have 350hp and 400 miles range. Not at the same time of course.

Harry's Garage has just done the MB CLA+, with about 400 odd miles of range.

All the road tests I've read about any MG model make the same comment about the ADAS features... that they're annoying, irritating, badly thought out, and probably counter-productive.

Is that the case ?

Pretty much every car I've driven with ADAS in the form of lane keeping assistance fits that description.

They are all annoying, every make, but chinese cars in general are all criticised for being over sensetive with annoying warning tones.

Its all about how easy they are to turn off when you start off.

Daughter has aBYD Seal udmi and on the FB page there are a lot of owners complaining about the car doing emergency stops for no reason.

A new MG feature - MG Pilot Custom - means a driver can determine which ADAS features they don’t want operative and quickly turn them off without going too deeply into menus.
Renault do the same with Safety Shield. A double tap on a physical button and ADAS features are customised to what you want.
We have to accept that if you want a new car, it has to meet General Safety Regulations 2, which means active safety systems are enabled at the start of each journey.

My neighbour has a new Dacia Stepway , and it has a similar feature whereby you select what driver functions you want on the menu to store , then every time you enter the car , hit the “one shot “ button and those functions are activated .

I'm on my 2nd MG5 and have been happy to persevere and get used to the potentially life saving features. That's not to say they aren't sometimes exceedingly irritating but they are, after all, there for your safety.
