Just back from a few days launching the new MGS6 EV to their dealer network.
The bits that worry people most first. It’s a 77kW/h battery, that in my hands achieved 2.7miles per kW/h. That’s 208 miles on a full charge.
That said, I was driving the Trophy Dual Motor with 357hp as standard. There is a Single Motor, which is less powerful but rangier. Cold days, and a route that involved lots of stops and then acceleration up to 60mph will have curtailed the range. I’d expect it to be a 250 mile car ordinarily, with the Single Motor going a little further.
Well built, rides well, good seats, decent quality materials, there’s a lot to like in a car that straddles C and D SUV segments. Very good rear leg room, without the feeling you get from some EV’s that you’re sitting with your knees up around your ears.
Possibly not the most dynamic offering, but most drivers aren’t looking to push the outer limits of the ride/handling envelope.
I could live with one, and I’d probably take the Single Motor for the range and (slightly) improved steering feel.
