Sister bought an 18 month old S Max couple months back.
Warning light came on last week.
Took to Ford dealer, apparently it needs a new coolant pump.
There are none in the UK and earliest delivery date is expected to be mid June.
Ford have given her a courtesy car via Enterprise, needed to be a 7 seater so they now have a Merc GLB. A sort of 7 seater SUV that weighs 2.2 ton and has a 1.3 petrol engine.
They say they much prefer the S Max. Can’t get 3 child seats /boosters in the Merc middle row.
Is a coolant pump same as a water pump? Surprised at the lack of availability.

Ford had to close its parts centre in Daventry in the second half of last year due to the discovery of asbestos.
It was scheduled to reopen after a complete clean, but at the time no timescale was given for reopening, and 6 to 8 months was certainly mentioned at one point.
So, I'm not at all clear as to whether it is yet open or back up to speed, but in the interim, orders were being fulfilled from Germany and Spain with the concomitant effect on delivery times.
(there have been complaints for some time on the motorhome forums of lack of availability of Transit parts).

No idea of the size but you would think a company like Ford would then look to take on another “warehouse” in the meantime?

It is ginormous...

Gone are the days of overnight deliveries from Germany and Spain; they're all stuck at Sevington waiting for clearance.

A lot of modern cars have more than one water pump. Usually an engine driven pump and possibly one or more electric pumps. It’s to improve water circulation especially if the engine has a turbo.
