Well it all went down a very unexpected road. As mentioned elsewhere she broke her (left) ankle badly and it's been a difficult few weeks ! I ended up driving the car an awful lot - put quite a few miles on in looking after the needs of 4 people and a dog.
Impressions have firmed up.
It's a lovely looking motor in its' M series blue, the interior is great feels quite premium, her brother (and her before her accident) complained about the driver's seat comfort. I found it no better or worse than any other car I've owned, Volvo seats seemed to suit me best, while the Audi's are very comfy. Slightly snatchy from first engaging the Drive, right foot needs to be very gentle. Useful is the Auto-Hold, not quite as smooth as the Audi's but it's good. The car can be driven smoothly at low speeds, performance is brisk and can be very quick. The 8 speed auto is not quite as smooth as previous BMWs for some reason. Steering wheel buttons are not as tactile as the Audi's or the Mini...This is a FWD car, oddly good to be fair. Caught myself under a notoriously slippery roundabout the other day treating the throttle as if the car was RWD....how strange. Handling is good, ride quite firm. Fuel economy is around 40mpg, despite the generally excellent roads around here.
It carries 4 passangers in comfort, despite being a bit of a climb for elderly f-i-l to get in and out.
She is back driving now (despite being in a boot)
Lovely "real" sound to the exhaust from the outside, especially from the outside ! There is a fake exhaust sound through the excellent "premium" sound system...caught me out the first time as it sounded like a fast car somewhere within range !
