No, it was just on the over-run when coasting. A message came up on the dash, the precise wording of which escapes me, but it was something like "running on 2 cylinders". The lightest touch of the throttle and the sign would go off. But without the message, I would have been none the wiser!
I assume the car had the ubiquitous VW 1.5 4-cylinder petrol engine.
