In the US, sales increased by 41 per cent in March compared to a year earlier despite having fallen 16 per cent year on year in January; and by nine per cent year on year in February.
Much of the achievement can be attributed to a raft of incentives introduced by the company that gave buyers discounts of up to $2,250. They ranged from interest-free loans to discount leases, but Don Esmond, a senior executive at Toyota Motor Sales USA, believes that customers also continue to have confidence in the vehicles’ safety and reliability.
